Meet Salem - Your guide

I’m Salem, a proud Bedouin from Oman. For five years, I’ve guided travelers from all over the world, sharing my culture and creating unforgettable memories in the beautiful desert of Wahiba Sands.

I speak average English, but just know that this website was built with the help of my amazing friends from around the world, I truly appreciate their support.

Who is your guide, Salem?

Marhaban, I am proud to call Oman my home. I have spent my entire life in this beautiful country, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, rich traditions, and warm-hearted people.

For the past five years, I have been guiding travelers from all over the world - Germany, China, India, Denmark, Russia, France, the USA, and many more.

Through this journey, I have had the privilege of meeting incredible people, sharing cultures, and creating unforgettable experiences together.

Why I love being a guide?

There are many paths I could have taken in life, but nothing brings me more joy than being a guide and practising my english. Every tour is a new adventure filled with meaningful conversations, laughter, and the opportunity to learn from people of different cultures and backgrounds.

I love sharing my knowledge about the Omani way of life, answering your questions, and making sure you feel at home in the desert. But most of all, I love the friendships that form along the way. Many of my guests become lifelong friends, and that is what makes this experience truly special.

Additionally, I am always improving my English, and guiding allows me to practice every day. So if you speak slowly and clearly, I will do my best to communicate with you and make your journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Why the Desert?

The desert is the heart of Oman, a place where time slows down, and life is stripped down to its purest form. While Oman has mountains, beaches, and city life, nothing compares to the amazing deserts.

My home is really nearby the Wahiba Sands so my friends and family often go to the desert just to relax, smoke some nice shisha, eat good food and laugh throughout the night.

Out here, you can leave the noise behind and take in the endless golden dunes. Whether you want adventure, dune bashing, camel riding, or sand-boarding or just want to relax under the stars, the desert is a special place.

Picture yourself sitting around a campfire, sharing stories, and enjoying a traditional Bedouin meal under a sky full of stars. This is the real desert experience, simple, peaceful, and unforgettable.

A personal note from Salem

If you notice that my English is not as perfect as this website, it’s because I’ve had wonderful people help me write and built it. Matter of fact, they are actually people who went to the desert with me and since then we have become life long friends.

My English may not be perfect, but if you speak slowly and clearly, I’ll do my best to help you and make sure you have an incredible desert experience.

Your desert tent

Yes, your tent is placed directly on the sand, no platforms, no fancy hotel floors, just you and the soft desert dunes. But don’t worry, it’s comfortable, and perfect for a real desert adventure.

It’s spacious enough to stretch out and sleep peacefully, with the sound of the wind over the dunes as your lullaby. Inside, you’ll find everything you need cozy sleeping arrangements, soft carpets to keep you warm, and plenty of fresh air (welllll, it’s the desert!).

No walls, no distractions just you, the sand, and a sky full of stars. Welcome to the real desert experience!

Desert Experience Menu

When you eat in the desert, you eat like a Bedouin generous portions, rich flavors, and plenty of food to keep you going.

Dinner (Served under the stars, with a side of good vibes)

  • Rice with Chicken – Slow-cooked in traditional Omani style for that perfect taste.

  • Rice with Meat – Marinated, grilled, and packed with authentic spices.

  • Fresh Fruits – A seasonal selection to keep things fresh.

Breakfast (Fuel for a day of adventure)

  • Fresh Omani Bread – Warm and straight from the fire.

  • Eggs – Fried or boiled, however you like them.

  • Cooked Beans – Simple, hearty, and tasty.

  • Water coffee and tea

  • A lot of other things as well.

Now, listen, this isn’t some tiny hotel breakfast where you get one egg, a sad toast, and a spoonful of marmalade. Omani and Middle Eastern culture means big portions and real hospitality. We’ll feed you well so well that you might need a diet after this trip. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
